How Accountability Bot handles your information.
Updated 12 September 2026 · About the main app
What the app saves
Accountability Bot stores account and profile details, password hashes, tasks, check-ins, responses, progress, rewards, and activity history in a database on the machine hosting your installation. Profile pictures are stored as files. Notes and task content can contain sensitive relationship information. Discord links and notification settings are saved when those features are used.
Who can see it
Your account and assigned owner have access to your profile and accountability information through the app’s permission checks. Owners can manage tasks, review submissions, and see activity. This is a shared accountability tool, so submissions are not private from your assigned owner. People with administrator access to the hosting machine or its backups may also be able to read stored data.
Discord and notifications
When connected, Discord provides account identity details; owners can also authorise access to their server list for setup. Proof checking reads messages and attachment details in configured proof channels and their threads. Matched proof can copy written responses into the app and save Discord message links and identifiers.
Enabled Discord and browser push notifications can contain names, task details, or summaries. Channel members, recipients, and people who can see your device notifications may see that content. Discord and browser push services handle deliveries under their own policies. Email is listed in settings but has no delivery implementation in this reviewed version.
Diagnostics and service providers
When connected, the Accountability Bot diagnostics service receives installation and licence identifiers, the owner’s account name and ID, platform and app version, plus operational events such as status, timing, and errors. This is not anonymous telemetry. Local Discord proof logs can also contain short message excerpts, identifiers, and attachment filenames.
Your hosting or network provider may process traffic and connection records. Provider access and retention depend on the services used by your installation. See Discord’s privacy policy; ask your operator which hosting and push services apply.
Cookies and device information
The app uses cookies to keep you signed in and browser storage to remember your theme. If you enable browser push, it saves your subscription address, delivery keys, and browser information to send notifications. You can disable push through your browser and remove the subscription through the app.
Keeping and deleting information
Accountability history remains until it is removed; disabling an account does not erase it. Ask your installation operator to access, correct, or delete your records. Deleting app records does not automatically delete Discord messages, diagnostics records, or backups.
The supplied Linux backup routine, when enabled and running successfully, removes its matching backup files older than 30 days. Other copies and services may follow different schedules. There is no promise of immediate deletion from every copy.
Questions and confidential enquiries
For questions about this policy, use the Request information form. Your enquiry goes privately to the site operator for a reply and is saved outside the public website files. The optional Discord alert contains a request ID, not your enquiry text. Enquiries have no automatic deletion schedule; you can ask the operator to remove yours.
